After 5 years of trying to find a job and relocate back to northern California, I finally have landed a job in Santa Cruz. This is a beach community on the north part of the Monterey Bay. I will be making scientific metrology equipment, which is a welcome change from making ultrasonic devices for 20 years. I'm very excited to learn something new.
I grew up in the Silicon Valley and left there several times, only to feel the pull back home eventually. This time I am moving back to be nearer my elderly parents, brother, and many old friends.
I won't be able to take my motorcycle at first, which is going to kill me. But I'll be busy with a new job and staying with a friend in the beginning, until I can find an affordable place to live. Then my husband will bring the bike, and alot of stuff down that I'll need to set up house. He has a stable, good paying job in the Seattle area, so will stay there until the stock market comes back a little and job market is such that he can find something in California.
It will be quite an adjustment for us both, but worth it in the end. I'll miss my bike most of all! (just kidding Dave)

I'll move just before Thanksgiving and start the job Dec. 1. I will try to keep up the blogging as long as I have internet connection. There may be a slight lag, but I'll warn you ahead of time.
I'm finally going home to stay this time.

Good luck in your new job Becky. There is always something nervous and exciting about starting a new career, nevermind moving house at the same time. Try not to get too flustered.

Congratulations! Going home sounds wonderful! Good luck with your new job and I hope your separation from your hubby and bike go without too much heartache. Good things come to those who wait!

Cool! Congrats on the new job! At least you have family and old friends to help you get adjusted again. Should be more like a homecoming than being the new kid on the block.
After working with you for the last ten years or so, I'm going to miss you. I'm happy you finally found a job in paradise. Lots of riding time I'm sure. The job sounds interesting too. I sort of envy you.
As for Dave, I'm sure he'll be partying every weekend now. he he
It is always gret to be "back home", isn't it? That should prove to make the transition to the new job and the time apart from hubby a little smoother. Sorry you'll be bikeless, especially in such a fabulous location! Congrats.

Wow! What a post to get caught back up on. I know you will miss Seattle, I was only there for five days and I still miss it. I understand needing to be close to elderly parents and I admire you for your willingness to do that. The new job sounds exciting. I'm sure your hubby will be just fine while you are apart.
